Metadata is any type of information Revere Mobile stores about a subscriber, a person who has opted into a mobile program. That information could be a subscriber’s name, zip code, a date they volunteered, or even their favorite pizza topping. Metadata can be collected in mobile flows from user input from uploads to the Revere Mobile platform.
To manage metadata, navigate from Lists > Metadata. Here, metadata types can be edited or removed.
To create a metadata field, click on the Create New Metadata button near the top right corner.
Once the Create Metadata window opens, name the metadata field and determine its type. The types of metadata are:
Text: any alphanumeric values up to the character length supplied.
Text Only: any alphabetical value A-Z.
State: 2 letter abbreviated format.
Zip Code: 5-digit format. Do not include +4.
Number: for strictly numerical values up to the character length supplied.
Boolean: Yes or No responses.
Metadata can be open or predefined. Predefined will generate a drop-down menu of potential values that will appear on broadcast filter.
Open: Specify a character limit and decide if old values should be overwritten. If overwritten, any old values will be replaced by new values received.
Predefined: List the values in the text field. Each value may have spaces in it but there should be no space between values, just a comma. Do not use commas inside a value, as this will separate items into separate fields.
Overwrite: Check the box to overwrite existing metadata. Leaving this box unchecked will preserve existing value for a subscriber and update only those with no value entered.
Post changes to a web service: Checking this box will allow some metadata tokens to be placed in a URL. When a metadata field is created or updated for a subscriber, a POST request will be made to the URL specified. If a service does not reliably respond within 30 seconds, request may be stopped. When complete, click to save.
To edit an existing piece of metadata, click the Edit Metadata icon or pencil icon. This feature should be used very rarely; changing pre-defined values may result in subscribers being inaccessible via filter.
Metadata can be filtered by name or type. System level metadata is data that is collected based on cell phone information (eg. carrier, area code). Account level metadata are basic metadata fields available in all Revere Mobile accounts (eg. First, Last, Zipcode), Group level metadata is data that is client specific (e.g. Union Member ID). It is recommended that all group level fields be labelled in a manor that is easily identifiable (eg. [Campaign Name] Welcomed).
