The ability so select and utilize Emojis is available three different ways within the Revere Mobile platform: as a keyword, within a broadcast, and within a mobile flow.

Please note that emojis are only able to be sent via MMS message. Please contact your Revolution Messaging Client Representative if you have questions regarding MMS messages and pricing.

Emoji as a Keyword

The emoji selector can be brought up by clicking on the smiley emoji within the Mobile interface:

Select the emoji to be used as a keyword.

If selecting a keyword that has a skin color element, please select all skin tones available for that keyword. Each skin tone emoji must be entered as a separate emoji keyword by selecting the individual emoji in the desired skin tone, then clicking the ‘+’ symbol to add as a keyword.  Failing to include all skin tones will result in users not being added to the mobile flow and their messages getting bounced to the general Inbox.

Broadcast and Mobile Flow Emojis

When using an emoji in a Broadcast or Mobile Flow, first select to send an MMS message. Click on the smiley icon to pull up the emoji selector:

This will pull up the emoji selector to insert the desired emoji into the MMS message.

Emoji Display

Emojis display different on different devices, using the systems default set when viewed in applications and browsers.  Throughout Mobile, a neutral emoji icon set is used where possible (in listings, static text content, etc.), and reverts to the default set when necessary (in textareas, such as when creating a broadcast).  However, inside external resources such as reporting exports, emojis will display using the default system icon set.  When using external reports, certain applications (for example, Microsoft Excel) may incorrectly display emojis altogether.

In order to get emojis to display in Microsoft Excel, you’ll want to follow the following steps:

  • You’ll have to create a new workbook first.
  • Select the Data tab, followed by the “From Text” button.
  • From there, select the file then select “Get Data” to proceed.
  • Select the “Delimited” option, and for File Origin select “Unicode (UTF-8)” and click “Next >” to proceed.
  • Select the “Comma” option under Delimiters and then click “Next >” again to proceed.
  • After that, click “Finish” to display the data with emojis in place.
